
Russell Blake
Managing Director
Russell began his career after graduating from the University of Gloucestershire, gaining early management experience with Gardner Merchant Leisure before joining Compass in 1999. He went on to lead a major site for Computer Associates and later became European Catering Manager, before moving into facilities management to support clients including The Royal Bank of Scotland Group, Eurest, 14forty at National Grid and National Accounts.
Russell later became Business Director for Healthcare and was appointed Managing Director of Hospitals and Senior Living in 2019, now leading several teams and more than 7,000 colleagues across services that play a vital role in patient care. He is especially proud of the way his teams support recovery and wellbeing, particularly during the challenges of COVID-19. Outside of work, Russell is motivated by the difference great service can make in healthcare settings and values the passion, dedication and resilience of the people he works alongside every day.

Jamie Powell
Head of Finance
Jamie is the Head of Finance at Medirest Signature, with over 10 years of experience, and has been ACCA qualified since 2018. Jamie's expertise lies in business partnering and collaborating closely with operators and clients throughout the organisation. Known for building strong relationships and delivering strategic financial guidance, Jamie consistently adds value to every team and project. Jamie is recognised for a proactive approach and a passion for driving business success.
Outside of work, Jamie enjoys spending time with family and travelling the world on holiday. Jamie also enjoys watching live sport, especially football, and is a proud West Bromwich Albion supporter.

Lauren Davidge-Stringer
Marketing Director
Lauren is an experienced marketing leader with over 10 years at Compass UK Healthcare, where she has helped shape the division’s marketing strategy and developed a passion for creating purposeful campaigns that enhance the patient journey. Before joining Healthcare, she built her marketing foundations across education, catering and employee benefits, gaining a broad understanding of service-led industries and the value of connecting people with meaningful experiences.
Lauren is committed to building authentic, insight-led brand narratives that inspire teams, strengthen relationships and deliver measurable impact across the organisation. Outside of work, she swaps marketing plans for muddy football boots as a proud mum in a football-loving household, and when she is not playing referee, she enjoys shopping, good coffee and discovering new foodie spots.

James Bunt
Business Development Director Healthcare
James joined Compass in November 2024, bringing experience from the NHS, genomics, sport and IT sectors. His career has centred on roles that strengthened his strategic thinking, relationship building and collaborative problem-solving skills, alongside a passion for supporting teams to grow and succeed.
Coaching and mentoring are central to James’s leadership style, and he is motivated by helping others build confidence and capability. He values collaborative working environments where people feel supported and able to make a positive impact. Outside of work, James plays, coaches and referees touch rugby, and enjoys spending time with his family exploring the outdoors in Cornwall (his favourite place in the UK).

Rob Perry
Operations Director
Rob is an accomplished Operations Director with over 20 years’ experience in hospitality and catering, leading large, multi-site operations and supporting teams to deliver outstanding service. He has a strong foundation in strategic planning, operational excellence and developing people at every level.
Rob takes a collaborative, inclusive approach and is valued for his commercial mindset and attention to detail. He is passionate about creating the right conditions for teams to thrive, while driving sustainable improvements across high-volume, complex operations.

Julian Wilson
Executive Chef
Julian has been the Executive Chef at Medirest Signature for 2 years, bringing experience across multiple hospitality sectors, from Harrods and private executive jets to football stadiums, food manufacturing and schools and colleges. In his role, he combines creativity with operational discipline to deliver food that meets the needs of each setting.
Julian specialises in menu development and implementation, building robust processes, SOPs and training guides, and supporting teams through mentorship and coaching. With a strong focus on health and safety, finance and culinary audits, he drives quality and consistency at scale. Outside of work, Julian values family time, good food with friends and growing his own vegetables. He's also a fan of anything with an engine and has a long-standing interest in pyrotechnics.

Stacey Dobson
Head of Patient Experience
Stacey is the Head of Patient Experience across acute, private healthcare and senior living sectors within Compass Group UK & Ireland. Since moving into healthcare in 2021, she has played a key role in developing and embedding the Positive Impressions cultural change programme, which has gained national recognition for its impact on patient, resident and service-user experience. With a background in operational leadership, guest experience and customer engagement, Stacey has a strong track record in delivering service improvements, staff development and data-led enhancements to care.
She is passionate about training, engagement and building partnerships that elevate experience standards across healthcare settings. Stacey loves the blend of people and data in her work and takes pride in supporting colleagues, communities and hospitals to make a meaningful difference to someone’s day.

Maxine Cartz
Healthcare Food Service Dietitian
Maxine Cartz worked as a clinical dietitian before finding her niche in food service dietetics 30 years ago. Until recently, she managed the therapeutic and nutritional aspects of our acute patient menus, interfacing between dietitians, nurses and caterers and she now supports Medirest Signature.
In 2012 she led the working group that created the first edition of the British Dietetic Association (BDA) Nutrition and Hydration Digest. She also participated in the development of the 2015 National Standards for Healthcare Food and Drink and in 2020 she contributed to the Independent Review of NHS Hospital Food. Maxine received a BDA Fellowship in 2021. In her spare time, Maxine plays bridge and loves spending time with her grandchildren.

Jeanette Whitehead
Head of Health and Safety
Jeanette is the Head of Health and Safety at Compass, progressing from her early career as a catering manager to leading safety across the healthcare estate. She has introduced practical innovations such as trash tongs and spill boards, strengthening safety culture and reducing risk across catering, cleaning, logistics, waste and security.
Her expertise spans healthcare operations, safety strategy, ISO lead auditing, IOSH technical membership and NEBOSH qualifications, and she has driven multiple ROSPA successes, including a 2024 innovation award. When she’s not championing safety, Jeanette enjoys travelling with her husband and spending time with her family and friends.

Jess Payne
Director of Social Value
Jess is the Director of Social Value at Compass One, leading the integration of social value across operations to create meaningful impact for colleagues, clients and communities. With a background in HR and business management, she brings a strategic and values-led approach to building inclusive organisational cultures.
Jess is a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD, an Associate Practitioner with the Institute for Social Value and a doctoral student, combining academic insight with hands-on expertise. Away from work, she likes gardening and walking on the beach with her family and rescue dog, Mika.

Rees Bramwell
Sustainability Director
Rees is a registered nutritionist specialising in food nutrition, supported by a master’s degree in sustainability. He applies an evidence-based approach to improving population health through nutrition and food systems.
Rees maintains his professional registration with a focus on public health practice. When he’s not working, he can usually be found outdoors with his son, exploring nature, playing football or cycling through the park.
